Aaron Douglas Art Fair

Please join me on Saturday September 26, 2015 at the Aaron Douglas Art Park for the 10th annual Art Fair. the show runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The Aaron Douglas Art Park is located at 12th and Lane in Topeka Ks. for more details visit the Aaron Douglas Art Fair website.

I was inspired to create some bright, fun jewelry for the fair.  A friend tasked me with making something not using blue and purple.  Apparently, I have a penchant for those colors, so the bracelet below is a result of the task.   Yes it's a rainbow, and it includes blue and purple, but it does include several other colors as well.
I really like this one.  It's fun to wear and goes with anything.  To complete the set, you can choose to compliment it with one of 5 pairs of earrings pictured below.  Or buy them all.

I have a bunch of other new stuff too, so stop by the Details booth and check it out.  I hope to see you all at the Fair on Saturday.

The ID Bracelet

A friend at work wanted to buy a birthday present for his daughter's 6th birthday, and asked to see my jewelry.  We settled on an ID bracelet for her using copper and Abalone shell beads.

She got it for her birthday last Sunday and liked it so much, she had to put it on immediately.  I'm so glad she liked it, it's fun to make something special for someone. A close up of the bracelet is below followed by a photo of her wearing the bracelet.  Isn't she adorable.

Happy Birthday Posy.

Something New

I was inspired by a design in one of the jewelry books I have.  While the design I came up with differs from the one in the book, it did inspire me to make it.  I haven't priced it yet, but don't think it will be too costly.

I used flat copper wire, bent into a half circle and looped the ends so I could attach more wire.  Then I wrapped the flat copper wire with round wire.  I attached the orange terra jasper teardrops and the clasp.  I wore it to work today to make sure it stayed hooked.  I really like it and will probably make some more in a similar design, but different.

Try Some Different Colors

Recently a friend commented that I made a lot of jewelry in purples, blues and turquoise.  Her challenge to me was to make something using the fall palate of colors.  So off I went to try my hand at fall colors. As I was checking out my beads, I discovered that I have lots of beads in those colors.  The necklace and earrings came together quite quickly once I got started.  See the result below.

So I'm striving for more "fall" jewelry, including some new Halloween pieces.

By the way, stop by the Lenexa Spinach Festival on Saturday September 12, 2015.  It runs from 9 am to 4 pm.  It's a fun day with all kinds of spinach related things including Popeye and Olive Oil and a Sweet Pea baby crawling contest.  So bring your family to Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park at 87th and Lackman and have a great day.
